"This painting was inspired by a weathered trompe l'oeil on an old chocolate shop in Oaxaca, the land of seven moles. Each Fall, a true chocoholic, I spend two long days in the kitchen preparing and preserving 40-80 pints of Mole Negro Oaxaqueño, an exotic mixture (mole) of chocolate, chilis, tomatoes and 23 other ingredients, that finds its way into poultry dishes year-round at my table." - Dena Cornett
